The American Osteopathic College of Dermatology is an affiliate of the American Osteopathic Association which is the recognized accreditor for osteopathic residency training programs in dermatology.

The AOA, through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, administers a board certification examination for dermatologists who complete a three year AOA-approved American Osteopathic College of Dermatology residency training.  All osteopathic trainees in dermatology are required to complete this training in order to take the rigorous dermatology board examination.

Both AOA and ACGME residency training programs are recognized and funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, while board certification from American Board of Dermatology and American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology are recognized as valid and appropriate credentials for positions on the medical staffs of hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the United States.

Visit the AOA website for more information.
